On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, the experiment with our fine dust reduction systems in the municipality of Zaltbommel was officially opened. Alderman Willem Posthouwer, director David Baars of partner OFN, and director Hans van Leerdam of the ‘School with the Bible’ officially started the operation of the Pamares.
Fine dust is an invisible concentration of many different dust particles, and is harmful to humans and the environment. Fine dust can be generated by cars, for example when they are accelerating and braking. Traffic is known to be the main source of air pollution in a school environment. Children are more vulnerable to air pollution. This is due to the fact that the lungs of children are not fully developed yet. They breathe in proportionally more air, and therefore more pollution, than an adult.
With the installation of the Pamares along the schoolyard of the School with the Bible, the fine dust concentration in the direct environment will be reduced.
